QuickToCreate

Table to Markdown

Paste HTML table source, or whatever Excel copies to the clipboard; the converted table appears below before you paste it anywhere.

Tables present data clearly, but Markdown table syntax is tedious to type by hand, and copying out of a web page or Excel still leaves you assembling pipes and separators. This tool converts a ready-made table into pasteable Markdown.

FAQ

Do Markdown tables work inside a rich text editor?

No. Most rich-text editors do not parse Markdown syntax, so the table appears as plain text with literal pipe characters. Inside an editor you need an HTML table or an image instead.

Does it support merged cells?

Markdown tables have no merged-cell concept. Merged areas are expanded to the outer rows and columns, which may duplicate or drop content. For those tables, export an image instead.

What happens to line breaks inside a cell?

Markdown table cells do not support real line breaks, so multi-line content is collapsed to a single line. Use spaces or a delimiter to separate it.
