Text to URL Slug Generator

Type or paste text and turn it into a clean, URL-friendly slug string. 100% local.

Blog titles, document directory names and URL paths all need a clean ASCII string. This tool turns a title into a usable slug, with the separator and casing under your control and a live preview.

Optional lowercase

FAQ

What happens to Chinese titles?

Non-ASCII characters such as Chinese are kept as-is, with no pinyin transliteration. A Chinese title stays Chinese rather than becoming something like weixin-paiban. If you need a fully ASCII slug, convert to pinyin first.

Can I use a custom separator?

Hyphen and underscore are the two supported options. Arbitrary characters are not allowed, so the result remains valid as a URL or file name.

Are spaces and punctuation removed?

Yes. Spaces and punctuation become the separator, and runs of separators are collapsed to one.
